Narvick Ready Mix Through The Years

1902

Henry Narvick, a Norwegian Immigrant settled with his family in Morris, Illinois and begins Building Houses, Cabinets and Barns from what he learned growing up in Norway.

1930-1950’s

1930-1950’s

Narvick Brothers Lumber Company INC. is established. The Second Generation Begins

1933

Henry forms Narvick Brothers Lumber Co., INC.
Selling Hardware, Lumber and other Building Materials all while building many barns and commercial properties throughout Morris and Grundy County, IL areas with his two sons Alvin and Hank Narvick.

1941

Henry Narvick passed away – with the boys carrying on the family business.

1945

Al and Hank return home from serving in World War II and purchase their first skip mixer to assist with their building materials and construction company.

1948

Customers started seeing how beneficial the skip mixer was for concrete construction and the quality mix it provided. The men saw an opportunity to supply others with concrete from the skip mixer, they decided to purchase a second ½ Yard Skip Mixer.

Ready Mix Concrete: Narvick Bros. Material Division. The Third Generation Begins.

1952

In 1952 Al and Hank decided to get into the concrete transit business. They purchased their first bins, elevators, and three mixer trucks. Two were international “six wheelers” with 4cyd & 5cyd Smith Mixers, and the third was a single axle chevy with a 2-½ cyd Jaguer Mixer. Focused on quality concrete – this is how the company had grown.

1953

Narvick Bros. Materials Division; formed Morris Ready Mix. In the beginning, our drivers would back up trucks to the dock and get loaded with the stone, sand and water. Then proceed to an elevator where the driver would then cut and put into the truck 5 to 6 bags of cement.

1956

All products started to come in by rail to the Morris – this includes Lumber, Cement, Stone and Sand. A Cement Silo, Bins, Conveyors and Scales were erected. Narvick Bros. Materials Division purchased their first New Concrete Mixer, a 1956 International 190 “six wheeler” with a 6cyd REX Mixer.

1960

Alvins’ two boys Arthur (Art) and Robert (Bob) joined the Narvick Bros. Companies.

1970’s – 2000

New Technology. The Fourth Generation Begins.

1973

Hank Narvick retires from daily operations at Narvick Bros. 

1980

After Al passes away in 1975, Art and Bob Narvick expand the quality ready mix into more geographical areas by adding to the fleet, with additional new mixer trucks. 

1996

Arts’ son Barry Narvick sees further opportunity and expands by purchasing their first portable ready mix plant, to begin servicing our customers the high volume consistent quality that the Narvick name is known for. The Second Plant location of Narvick Bros. Ready Mix is established in Minooka, IL. servicing our customers in the Grundy and Will County markets.
